BHEL was established in 1964 ushering in the indigenous Heavy Electrical Equipment industry in India. Heavy Electricals (India) Limited was merged with BHELin 1974. In 1991, BHEL was converted into a public limited company.
The bulk of the revenue of the company is derived from sale of equipment for power generation such as turbines, boilers, etc. As of 2017, BHEL supplied equipment contributed to about 55% of the total installed power generation capacity of India

BHEL booked total revenue of Rs. 29618.78 Cr. in financial year 2017-18 , with net profit of Rs. 806.60 Cr.

BHEL announced 3rd PRC benefits to its employees with 10 % fitment benefit as per last three years PBT(profit before tax) w.e.f 1.1.2017.

Salary in BHEL
After successful training of one year execitives are given starting basic salary Rs. 24900 or Rs 60000 after 3rd pay revision. Apprrox CTC will be 9-10 lakhs per annum.
