Selection Criterion

The mode of selection is through GATE SCORE-2019 which has to be conducted by IIT Madras, Chennai in the month of February 2019. 

All the willing candidates must have a GATE Registration ID (13 digits) for applying for DR-JTO(Civil) & DRJTO(Electrical) online Registration

Scale of Pay

JTO(Civil) & JTO(Electrical) will be appointed in the IDA pay scale Executive[E-1A] of Rs.16,400/- – Rs.40,500/- as per 2nd PRC with annual increment @ 3% of basic pay plus IDA, HRA, Perks, Medical Benefits, etc. admissible as per BSNL Company rules. 2. Selection for a 

 Educational Qualifications

 Applicant must possess the educational qualifications: BE/BTech. or equivalent in Civil Engineering for JTO(Civil) & in Electrical Engineering for JTO(Electrical) from a recognized Institution/University AND are required to appear in GATE exam 2019, opting one paper from selected two disciplines of GATE paper codes i.e. Electrical(EE) & Civil(CE) (details are available at www.gate.iitm.ac.in).

Online application will start from 11-2-2019 .The prescribed examination fee of Rs.1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) for OBC candidates and of Rs.500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) for SC/ST candidates shall be paid through online mode i.e. Internet Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card only.

What work in BBNL

Main purpose of BBNL is to provide internet connectivity in rural areas .For this purpose each gram panchayat will be connected to optical fiber ,ONT will be installed in these panchayats from where further connectivity can be provided to telecom operators to provide FTTH connections and Wi-Fi Hotspots in rural areas. BBNL is using GPON(Gigabit Passive Optical Network Technology) technology at National level.

Online Registration for MT exam in BSNL started from 26-12-2018 for Internal candidates and last date to apply is 26-01-2019.Recruitment for external candidates has been postponed due to court case filed by Executive associaction of BSNL

What is maximum age limit to Apply?

Age should not exceed 30 years 1st Aug 2019 for General candidates, 5 years relaxation for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC, 10 years for PWD belonging General category,13 years for PWD belonging to OBC category .

What is the selection process?

  After successful completion of Two years of training and 52 weeks of Job training candidates will appointed in the pay scale of 24099-50500(pre-revised), with approx starting salary of 63000 Rs as on date .may increase with increase of DA .

What is Career progression of Management Trainee 

After one year of training candidates will be appointed as Assistant Manager ,which will be further promoted to the post of deouty General Manager. Till date no fixed duration for promotion is declared by BSNL as no clear promotion policy is in place in BSNL. Once CPSE cadre hierarchy is implemented promotion policy will be clear.

What is Junior Research Fellow(JRF), Exam and career options

JRF stands for Junior Research Fellow, as the name suggests person working as JRF has to assist in research related works. Usually they have to work under any professor, working  on any project assigned by any of the government or other agency. JRF is eligibility for joining as a lecturer in any university or college .

Process of Selection as JRF

Notifications for JRF exams are issued by UGC and CSIR every year by the name UGC (NET), and CSIR (NET) .National Eligibilty Test(NET) is also an eligibilty exam for the post  of Assistant professor  in  an Indian  University. To apply for the post of Lecturer in any University  it is mandatory to qualify JRF exam. 

Sometimes notification for JRF is issued by Individual IIT or NIT for any project for that they invite applications from GATE or NET qualified candidates , no separate exam is conducted. After successful completion of two years as JRF candidate may be allowed to enroll in PhD in the same college or Institute.

Eligibilty

To apply for the post of JRF candidate must posses post Graduation Degree. Fellowships

After qualifying JRF exam candidates has to work as JRF in any university where UGC or CSIR provide fellowships of Rs. 25000/ month and HRA if hostel facility is not available. These fellowships are awarded for two years, after two years if Candidate wants to continue fellowship he has to enroll in PhD course failing to which fellowship terminates. As per the notification this vacancy is for fixed tenure of 5 years , so candidate who working in a company where they are not having good career progression should definitely apply. 1.    Best option is to get on campus placement in company of your core branch if you get an opportunity or IT sector if possible.

2.    Qualify GATE exam with good score and be get shortlisted in any of the Government and public sector Jobs.

3.    Pursue Higher Education for which you require Good GATE score for MTech , CAT/GMAT score for MBA, GRE and IELTS for MS from Foreign University.

4.    Qualify exams of State PSC ,SSC and other state government exams.

5.    Qualify IES(Engineering Services) for selection in railways, DOT etc. government departments.

6.    Clear Exams of Bank PO or Specialist officer in Banks to get Banking sector jobs.

7.    Last option is to look for off campus selection for which you have to go to Bangalore or other big cities to appear for exams conducted by various companies from time to time.

   From the above options nobody would want to go for last option ,searching of Job. Because in off campus also various things other than your knowledge plays significant role. Private companies recruits most of the time on the basis of referrals when vacancy is less. For referrals you need to have good contacts with your college seniors so that they can refer you in their companies. 

Then What Should You Do ?

  

It is always better to start early ,during you Engineering:

1)    It’s is always better to get good technical knowledge whatever your branch is so that you could perform well in GATE examination because it will open two options for you government/public sector Jobs and Higher Education.

2)    If you want to  go for MBA then start working on your English, Aptitude , English speaking etc. so that you can perform well in CAT/GMAT examinations.

3)     Always work on your communication skills, participate in extra- curricular activities, try to get as much exposure you can get because it will help everywhere.

4)    If you want to go in Non-Engineering fields like Civil Services exams, Banking Sector Jobs etc it is  better to start early as there is huge competition.

5)     If you want to go abroad for higher education then start preparing for GRE/IELTS , and enquire about the expected expenditure , source of scholarships, good universities etc.

It is better to prepare well in advance because after completing your degree it becomes very difficult to maintain your confidence with the passage of time if not get employed timely.
