BRIEF DETAILS ABOUT NTPC

NTPC Ltd. (formerly known as National Thermal Power Corporation Limited), is an Indian Public Sector Undertaking, engaged in the business of generation of electricity and allied activities. It is a company incorporated under the Companies Act 1956 and is promoted by the Government of India. The headquarters of the company is situated at New Delhi. NTPC's core business is generation and sale of electricity to state-owned power distribution companies and State Electricity Boards in India. The company also undertakes consultancy and turnkey project contracts that involve engineering, project management, construction management and operation and management of power plants.

The company has also ventured into oil and gas exploration and coal mining activities. It is the largest power company in India with an electric power generating capacity of 53,651 MW.Although the company has approx. 16% of the total national capacity it contributes to over 25% of total power generation due to its focus on operating its power plants at higher efficiency levels (approx. 80.2% against the national PLF rate of 64.5%). NTPC currently produces 25 billion units of electricity per month.

It was founded by Government of India in 1975, which now holds 64.74% of its equity shares on 30.06.2016 (after divestment of its stake in 2004, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2016, & 2017) 

CAREER IN NTPC FOR ENGINEERING GRADUATES & DIPLOMA HOLDERS

Earlier NTPC used to condect written examination for the recruitment at the post of Engineering Executive trainee .But now the recruitment is conducted on the basis of score in the GATE examination. Gate qualified candidates are further shortlisted -
1.By online aptitude test
2. Group discussion. 
3. Personal inerview.

 candidates has to attain minimum marks in both group discussion and personal interview .

NTPC usually recruits engineering graduates with BE./B.tech in 

Electrical, 

Mechanical,

Electronics

Mining

Instrumentation

 Engineering Executive trainees are placed in E3 scale(starting Basic Rs. 60000 after implementation of 3rd PRC) which will nearly Rs. 110000/month.

Selection process for Diploma Holders 

Eligible candidates has to appear for two online exams-

1. 1st stage- online aptitude test, covering general english, Quantitative aptitude & Reasoning (120 questins)of 2 hrs.with minimum qualifying marks 40% for general and 30% for SC/ST/PWd candidates.There is no weitage of aptitude test for final selection it is just for shortlisting candidates.

2. 2nd stage- online technical test for respective descipline(120 questions)of 2 hrs.with minimum qualifying marks 40% for general and 30% for SC/ST/PWd candidates.

  successfull candidate are placed in re-revised scale of 15500-34500 .which is to be revised Aas per third PRC.Approx salary will be approx Rs. 70000/month

JOB PROFILE AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT IN NTPC

Most of the work is technical in as NTPC mainly works in the field of power generation. These Plants of NTPC are located in remote areas far from cities although NTPC provides very good facilities to its employees like residential , medical , transportation etc. As these plants works round the clock , Staff has to work in shift duties. But NTPC pays very handsome salaries to its employees , higher then most of the Public Sector Companies
